David Thompson Architect is a full service practice located in Charleston, South Carolina. Founded in March, 2010, DTA engages in a variety of project types; restaurants, custom residential, light commercial construction, retail and office design. The work includes new construction, adaptive re-use and renovation. The studio employs four full-time architectural staff and an office manager. Each project receives individual and personal attention from the team.
Prior to this practice, David was a partner of Gibson Thompson Guess Architects, previously doing business as Reggie Gibson Architect. Other firm experience includes Huff + Gooden Architects and SMHa. Our interest in architecture is rooted in the desire to build culturally significant buildings to enhance the lives of the user and the community.

I am proud to be, at a minimum, the 3rd generation of Thompson men involved in construction. My grandfather was a master carpenter and house builder. My father has worked in construction management, civil engineering and land development. Great picture of my grandfather in the dark blue overalls.
